English journalist educated at Gray's Inn; the uncle of Charles Dickens, he was a reporter for The Times, founder and editor of the Mirror of Parliament (1828), and a writer for the Morning Herald (1839-42), The Sun (1842-45), and the Hampshire Advertiser (1848-55).
