Charles Palmer (1777-1851)
The son of postal-reformer John Palmer, he was educated at Eton College and at Oriel
College, Oxford; afterwards he was aide-de-camp to the prince regent (1811), major-general
(1825), and Whig MP for Bath (1808-26, 1830-37).
