Thomas Hamilton, ninth earl of Haddington (1780-1858)
The son of the eighth earl (d. 1828); he was educated at Edinburgh University and Christ's Church, Oxford and was a Tory MP for St. Germans (1802-06), Cockermouth (1807), Callington (1807-12), St. Michael (1814-18), Rochester (1818-26), and Yarmouth (1826-27). He was lord lieutenant of Ireland (1834-35).
