Sandford Tatham (1756 c.-1840)
The son of a Cumberland clergyman of the same name, he served as a naval officer, being
promoted to rear-admiral in 1813. In a celebrated 1836 legal case he was declared the heir
of John Marsden and inherited Hornby Castle near Leeds.
