Charles Philip Yorke, fourth earl of Hardwicke (1799-1873)
Educated at Harrow and the Royal Naval College, he pursued a naval career in which he encountered Byron at Missolonghi. He was a Tory MP for Reigate (1831-32), and Cambridgeshire (1832-34) before succeeding his uncle as earl.
