The son of Admiral Lord Hugh Seymour; in 1822 he married Lady Mary Gordon, daughter of George Gordon, ninth Marquess of Huntly; in 1832 he married Lady Augusta Hervey, daughter of Frederick William Hervey, first Marquess of Bristol.
