Joseph Charles Mellish (1768-1823)
The eldest son of the barrister Charles Mellish, educated at Eton, Trinity College,
Cambridge, and Lincoln's Inn, he was Consul in Louisiana (1809), Consul-General for the
circle of Lower Saxony (1814-23) and a translator of Schiller.
