Of Lichfield; he was a major in the Horse Guards, a gentleman-usher at court, and Richard Lovell Edgeworth's father-in-law. He was the son of Ralph Sneyd of Bishton and father of Edward Sneyd of Byrkley Lodge (d. 1832).
